Pick a university and see the buildings around it, with the walk or the ride to campus on every one.
Use these established student areas as starting points, then compare each property's rent and route to your university.
Areas students actually take rooms in, with the buildings closest to each one. Matched by location, so a building appears under the area it stands in rather than the area its marketing claims.
The gardens, the pier, the station and the nightlife, and where the newer towers went up. A bus to Talbot is part of the deal.
Places students in Bournemouth actually use. We have no arrangement with any of them.
Public study space in the town centre, close to the Triangle and central bus routes.
The main student bus network linking Lansdowne, Winton and the Talbot campus.
A traffic-free green route from the town centre down to the pier.
A local shopping area east of the centre and close to lower-cost coastal housing.
Picked by distance, price and choice, measured from the listings on this page. Not a ranking, and not a recommendation: the numbers are what they are on the day you read this.

A city-by-city note about the decisions that change your daily routine. Prices and availability remain live in the listings above.
Bournemouth has no edge to it. Along with Christchurch and Poole it forms one continuous built-up strip about ten miles end to end, under a single council since 2019, and nothing on the ground tells you where one town stops. That matters when you are reading addresses: a room advertised here might be ten minutes from the pier or most of the way to Poole. Bournemouth University and the Arts University both sit at Talbot on the Wallisdown road, roughly on the seam between the two towns, which is a useful landmark to measure everything else against.
Room types, what bills included really covers, when to book, and what to check if you are arriving from abroad.
Comparing options? These are the other cities in the UK where most students on our shortlist are basing themselves.
The Unibus services between the town, Winton and the Talbot campus are what makes living away from campus workable, and they run frequently through the day. Allow fifteen to twenty minutes from the town centre. Bournemouth and Pokesdown stations sit on the South Western line, with London Waterloo around two hours and Southampton about forty minutes. The whole conurbation is flat along the clifftop and the promenade, which makes cycling genuinely pleasant, and the seafront route between Bournemouth and Poole is traffic free for most of its length.
