Pick a university and see the buildings around it, with the walk or the ride to campus on every one.
Use these established student areas as starting points, then compare each property's rent and route to your university.
Areas students actually take rooms in, with the buildings closest to each one. Matched by location, so a building appears under the area it stands in rather than the area its marketing claims.
The red brick around the Lanyon Building, with Botanic Avenue's cafes and the gardens behind it. Its own railway halt, and two streets of separation from the Holylands that you can hear.
Where Ulster University's Belfast campus landed on York Street, and where the newer blocks have followed it. Cobbled lanes, murals, and the city's best nights out downstairs.
Places students in Belfast actually use. We have no arrangement with any of them.
A historic independent library opposite City Hall with public reading space in the centre.
The public gardens between Queen’s main campus, Stranmillis and the Ulster Museum.
A large green space beside the Ormeau student area and the Lagan cycle route.
The rapid bus service crossing Belfast east to west, useful for campuses and neighbourhoods beyond walking distance.

A city-by-city note about the decisions that change your daily routine. Prices and availability remain live in the listings above.
Belfast concentrates its students more tightly than almost any city in these islands. The Holylands, a grid of a dozen streets off the Ormeau Road named after Jerusalem, Damascus and Palestine, sits behind Queen's University and houses a remarkable share of its undergraduates. Ulster University moved its Belfast campus up to York Street in the Cathedral Quarter, which has opened up a second, very different half of the city.
Room types, what bills included really covers, when to book, and what to check if you are arriving from abroad.
Comparing options? These are the other cities in the UK where most students on our shortlist are basing themselves.
Belfast is compact and most student journeys here are walks: the Holylands to the Queen's Lanyon Building takes about ten minutes, and Botanic station to the centre is one stop. Translink runs the Glider, a bus rapid transit route crossing the city east to west, and Metro buses cover the rest, all on one card. Botanic, City Hospital and Lanyon Place are the three stations that matter. The city is flat along the Lagan and the towpath makes a genuinely pleasant cycle, and the Belfast Bikes scheme covers the centre and the university areas.
