Pick a university and see the buildings around it, with the walk or the ride to campus on every one.
Use these established student areas as starting points, then compare each property's rent and route to your university.
Areas students actually take rooms in, with the buildings closest to each one. Matched by location, so a building appears under the area it stands in rather than the area its marketing claims.
Cafes and pubs on the hill above Singleton, with Dylan Thomas's birthplace in the middle of it. The established student quarter and the busiest.
East of the centre and nearest the Bay Campus, cheaper and barely studenty, with the docks for neighbours.
Places students in Swansea actually use. We have no arrangement with any of them.
Public study space in the civic centre beside the waterfront.
Services linking the city centre with Singleton Park and Bay campuses.
Large covered market in the city centre for food and everyday shopping.
The major green space surrounding the original university campus.

A city-by-city note about the decisions that change your daily routine. Prices and availability remain live in the listings above.
Swansea University has two campuses and both of them are on the sea. Singleton Park sits above the beach west of the centre, inside a botanical garden; the Bay Campus is five miles the other way at Fabian Way, with the sand on its doorstep. Very few universities can say that about either site, and almost none about both. The practical consequence is less romantic: those two sites are twenty five minutes apart by bus, so the area that works for one does not work for the other.
Room types, what bills included really covers, when to book, and what to check if you are arriving from abroad.
Comparing options? These are the other cities in the UK where most students on our shortlist are basing themselves.
The 8 and 10 buses along Oystermouth Road and Fabian Way connect the centre to Singleton and the Bay Campus respectively, and the university runs its own shuttle between the two sites, which is the service to check if your timetable crosses them. Swansea railway station is in the centre, with Cardiff about an hour and London Paddington around three. The real asset here is the Swansea Bay cycle path: five flat traffic-free miles along the seafront from the Marina past Singleton to Mumbles, which beats the bus in good weather and is the reason a lot of students here own a bike.
