Pick a university and see the buildings around it, with the walk or the ride to campus on every one.
Use these established student areas as starting points, then compare each property's rent and route to your university.
Areas students actually take rooms in, with the buildings closest to each one. Matched by location, so a building appears under the area it stands in rather than the area its marketing claims.
The main campus, Knights Park, the market place and the river all within a few minutes, with most of the newer blocks. London fares, town prices.
Climbing east towards the Kingston Hill campus and Richmond Park. Quieter, greener, and a real hill between you and the town.
North east and cheaper again, with one of the largest Korean communities in Europe and the restaurants that come with it.
Over the bridge into Richmond borough, greener and dearer, with the Thames Path and Bushy Park on hand.
Places students in Kingston upon Thames actually use. We have no arrangement with any of them.
Public study space close to the town centre and river.
Routes connecting Kingston University campuses, halls and central transport stops.
Daily food and shopping market in the historic centre beside the Thames.
Large free park north of Kingston and close to Roehampton Vale routes.

A city-by-city note about the decisions that change your daily routine. Prices and availability remain live in the listings above.
Kingston is a London borough that does not feel like London. It has its own market place, a riverside, a theatre and a high street, and it sits in Travelcard zone 6, which means London fares and a student Oyster discount apply while the rents are well under anything zone 2. Kingston University is spread across four sites, and the gap between Penrhyn Road in the town and Kingston Hill up the slope is the thing worth checking before you commit to an address.
Room types, what bills included really covers, when to book, and what to check if you are arriving from abroad.
Comparing options? These are the other cities in the UK where most students on our shortlist are basing themselves.
Kingston and Surbiton stations run into London Waterloo in about half an hour, and a zone 6 Travelcard with the 18+ Student Oyster discount covers everything inside London, which is the single biggest saving available here. There is no Underground: the trains and the buses are the network, and the K-series buses connect the university's four campuses. The town and the riverside are flat and the Thames Path gives a traffic-free cycle to Hampton Court and Richmond; Kingston Hill is not flat and the campus up there is a genuine climb or a bus.
