Pick a university and see the buildings around it, with the walk or the ride to campus on every one.
Use these established student areas as starting points, then compare each property's rent and route to your university.
Areas students actually take rooms in, with the buildings closest to each one. Matched by location, so a building appears under the area it stands in rather than the area its marketing claims.
Wedged between the two campuses, which makes it about as central as Dundee gets. Flats rather than houses, and five minutes to either university.
The Overgate, the Nethergate and the rebuilt waterfront beside the V and A. Purpose-built blocks, the railway station, and the shortest walk to Abertay.
North east of the centre, shared houses and lower rents, with the park at the top of it and a fifteen minute walk in.
Places students in Dundee actually use. We have no arrangement with any of them.
Public study space in the Wellgate, close to the centre and both universities.
Free design museum on the waterfront beside the railway station.
The hill at the centre of the city, useful for understanding how steep northbound routes can be.
Open riverside space at the west end of the main student district.

A city-by-city note about the decisions that change your daily routine. Prices and availability remain live in the listings above.
Dundee makes the arithmetic easy. The University of Dundee and Abertay University are both in the city centre, about five minutes' walk from each other, and the surrounding streets are where the student housing is. It is also consistently the least expensive city on this site to live in as a student, which means the question here is rarely whether you can afford an area and more often which side of the campus you want to be on.
Room types, what bills included really covers, when to book, and what to check if you are arriving from abroad.
Comparing options? These are the other cities in the UK where most students on our shortlist are basing themselves.
Most of student Dundee is a walk, and the one thing to know is that the city rises steeply from the waterfront, so Perth Road and the Law are a climb from the station. Xplore Dundee runs the buses and a student ticket covers the city. The railway station is on the waterfront beside the V and A, with Edinburgh around an hour and a quarter and Aberdeen about the same. Broughty Ferry has its own stop on that line. The city is compact enough that a bike covers everything, and the Tay bridges give you the Fife coast on a weekend.
