Host’s current UK FAQ says there is no damage deposit; instead a building-specific advance-rent payment secures the booking. It is credited to the first instalment when paying in full, or the second payment on an instalment plan. The general FAQ does not give one amount for every property; verify the actual offer.

Choose the Host property and room online, enter your details, sign the agreement and pay the required advance rent. The FAQ normally requests passport/photo ID, a university offer letter and home address. Under-18 eligibility varies by building; ask the team before booking. The property may use a Common Law Tenancy, Licence or Periodic Assured Tenancy, so read the actual agreement rather than assuming a fixed term or one notice rule.

Pay through Host’s secure portal according to the agreement schedule. The FAQ describes full upfront, termly or monthly options, but availability varies by property. A parent, guardian or sponsor may pay through the portal or transfer using the student reference; the tenant remains responsible for the rent.

The FAQ requires a UK-based guarantor for instalment payments. Some buildings may accept international guarantors or a third-party service under their own arrangements; other options can include paying rent upfront. Obtain the chosen building’s approval rather than assuming every international guarantor or service is accepted.

Host’s FAQ directs cancellation requests to the building’s actual policy and team. It says an early departure from a fixed-term agreement normally needs an approved replacement, with rent due until takeover; some buildings instead use a Periodic Assured Tenancy, whose notice terms must be checked. The detailed visa and university-place FAQ paragraphs are explicitly labelled 2025/26, so they do not verify protection for a 2026/27 or 2027/28 booking. Obtain the current dated building policy and deadlines before relying on either protection.
