Pick a university and see the buildings around it, with the walk or the ride to campus on every one.
Use these established student areas as starting points, then compare each property's rent and route to your university.
Areas students actually take rooms in, with the buildings closest to each one. Matched by location, so a building appears under the area it stands in rather than the area its marketing claims.
Immediately south of King's and cheaper for it, granite tenements and student flats mixed into family streets. Close enough that the walk to a nine o'clock is no excuse.
The only address that serves both universities, because the buses to each run through it. Most of the purpose-built stock is here, and Union Street is as busy and as windy as it looks.
Robert Gordon's campus sits at Garthdee by the River Dee, and Mannofield fills the gap between there and the centre. Few University of Aberdeen students bother with either, which keeps competition down.
Places students in Aberdeen actually use. We have no arrangement with any of them.
Public study space beside Rosemount Viaduct, convenient from the centre and buses to both universities.
The large park immediately behind Old Aberdeen and King’s College, part of the everyday route from Hillhead.
Major sports facilities beside the University of Aberdeen campus, used by university clubs and the public.
Riverside park and winter gardens south of the centre, on the route towards Garthdee.

A city-by-city note about the decisions that change your daily routine. Prices and availability remain live in the listings above.
Aberdeen gives you a sharper choice than most cities, because its two universities are nowhere near each other. The University of Aberdeen is in Old Aberdeen at the northern edge, around the granite of King's College. Robert Gordon University is at Garthdee in the south west, by the River Dee. That is about four miles of city between them, so an area that is a ten minute walk for one set of students is a bus journey across town for the other.
Room types, what bills included really covers, when to book, and what to check if you are arriving from abroad.
Comparing options? These are the other cities in the UK where most students on our shortlist are basing themselves.
Buses are the backbone here and the routes along King Street and Holburn Street are the ones to know, because they connect the centre to the two campuses. Journey times across the city run fifteen to twenty five minutes depending on traffic. Aberdeen is walkable within each half of itself but not easily between them, so a bike or a bus pass is close to essential if your teaching is split. The railway station is in the centre, with Edinburgh and Glasgow around two and a half hours away, and the granite streets are exposed enough that a decent coat outperforms most transport decisions.
