Les estudines recommends a guarantor to strengthen the application. The FAQ allows a guarantor of another nationality or living outside France, provided they understand and can sign the French contract. Physical attendance at the inventory/key handover is not required if the documents are signed beforehand. Acceptance of a particular application remains with the residence.

To leave, the FAQ requires notice to the residence by registered letter with acknowledgement or a hand-delivered letter, respecting the notice period in the actual lease. An exit inventory is required; a free pre-inventory can be requested 15 days before departure. This FAQ does not establish a universal pre-booking refund, notice duration or visa/university-place release.
